Anteceded by the broadcast of two music vids – Forever, where Mylène Farmer, dressed in a white jumpsuit, floats in swells of hair, curtains and spidery brutes, and Rayon vert, duet with Simon Buret, songster of the group AaRON –,L'Emprise, the songster's twelfth plant reader, features twelve tracks, seven of which were composed by Woodkid. The others are renewed collaborations with Moby( revitalize the Stars, Bottle in the Sea), Darius Keeler and the group Archive( Do You Know Who I Am and No More revived). Rayon vert was written and composed by the group AaRON( Buret and Olivier Coursier), Mylène Farmer subscribing all the other textbooks. The reader begins with a ditty, Invisibles, in an elegant string arrangement by Woodkid and Sally Herbert. An incident that we find in the other compositions of Woodkid, with the exception of Forever, erected on an ostinato( repetitious motif). This “ symphonist ” bias could have rinsed the whole reader, therefore giving it concinnity. And it's these songs, also in the register of melancholy study( Invisibles, Quel'aube est belle, Ode àl'apesanteur, Que je devenir, with its bells and distant cans, On the other hand), relatively dark, which feel to us the most satisfying. In Forever andL'Emprise, to analogous themes in the textbooks, Woodkid introduced a further pronounced electro- meter.
